Mary labored. Mary birthed. Mary breastfed. On Christmas Christians celebrate God incarnate; the birthday of Jesus. God became flesh so that he could share in our humanity. In our suffering. In our temptations. That we might have an example, to feel the connection of a shared experience. But we have also an example of sacrifice in Mary. In trusting and knowing. Women have an example in Mary. She was pregnant. She labored. She birthed. She breastfed. So on this day of Jesus's birth let us also be inspired by the strength, fortitude, and humanity of Mary. Let us remember the ancient wisdom of women, the rhythm of horticultural time, the rhythm of birth, the rhythm of our bodies. Let us honor the traditions of the women who have gone before us. Let us listen and remember. Let us follow the call of the rhythm of creation, of connection, of Truth. O Immaculate Mary, pray for us. "Crowning" by Sara Star

The year is almost over, but there’s still time to leave a mark on 2019. Do something just because it could make someone else’s life better. Participate in this pilot study, which is open to all who are at least 13-years-old. By doing so (takes maybe 5 minutes), you’re contributing to the reimagining of clinical (psychological) assessment. It’s completely anonymous and can be done from any device. .

Up to 60% of mothers are missed by current screening tools, according to recent data from the @cdcgov. And UP TO 50% of those who ARE identified through screening never access treatment.
AND suicide is the leading cause of maternal mortality.

So where do we begin???
better screening
β¬οΈ
better research
β¬οΈ
increased early detection
β¬οΈ
increased awareness
β¬οΈ
increased education
β¬οΈ
improved access to more diverse treatment options.
YOU CAN BE A PART OF MAKING A CHANGE. Visit anymommy.com to participate in an online pilot study for a revolutionary postpartum mental health check-in.
Better screening starts with YOU. .
.
. *the perinatal onset specifier in the DSM for PPD does not go beyond 4 weeks postpartum and does not include the common symptoms of fear or irritability.
It is time to reimagining screening and we are starting with postpartum depression. Current tools are missing women. And we cant afford to miss.
Join us in changing the way we see postpartum depression by participating in the pilot study. FOR MOMS. BY MOMS. WITH YOU.

A year in reviewπππ One year ago, I shared my very first blog post and started this journey of speaking out about my experience with postpartum depression in real time.
I have shared about my mind and my body.
I have shared deep darkness.
I have shared dreams for the future.
I hope that I have been able to provide a honest haven for the rawness. I have craved that type of openness about this postpartum life and postpartum depression and found too few places willing and able to hold that space.
And this past year has set me on a path I never thought I'd travel.
Thank you for walking with me. β€Rachel
LISTEN TO ME:
You. Are. Worth. It.
All day. Every day.
Even when you think it couldn't possibly be true.
Even when the darkness whispers the terrible lie that you are worthless.
Even when you can hardly get out of bed.
Even when you are sure you are better off dead.
Even when you feel ugly.
Even when you feel like a burden.
Even when you feel misunderstood.
Even when you feel like a failure.
LISTEN TO ME:
Dearest person, you are so important. Because you are the only you that will ever exist in the history of time and space. Even on your worst day, the world needs just exactly you. You are here for a reason. Whether or not you can see that in the midst of this darkness, I promise you that it is true. It is a fact. And we, your fellow humans, we need you here being you. Even on your darkest day, you matter. .
